The New Mitsubishi XFC Concept - What We Know So Far

Mitsubishi previews an all-new compact SUV concept

Though we'd dearly love to be writing about the latest bonkers special edition of a Triton, ASX or Pajero right now, we're left with the Mitsubishi XFC Concept. Of course, it's a compact SUV, unveiled in Vietnam and previewing a new crossover for the Southeast Asian markets. So, this means we’re not likely to see this new compact SUV at Mitsubishi Stellenbosch, but let’s take a look at what we know about it anyway.
-
Mitsubishi says that the XFC Concept aims to be the "best-suited buddy for an exciting life", something we know dealers like Stellenbosch Mitsubishi would love to sell. The exterior design includes chunky arches, an angry-faced grille and T-shaped lights that have more than a hint of Volvo about them. Apparently, it follows a philosophy of ‘Robust & Ingenious’. The interior looks fantastic as well - with plenty of soft-touch materials and some lovely-looking leather/cloth seats. Not too screen-heavy either.
-
There are no technical details as of yet, but it looks like the crossover that’s born from the XFC Concept will launch with an internal combustion powertrain and potentially four-wheel drive. "We will launch the new compact SUV sequentially in the ASEAN markets including Vietnam in the fiscal year 2023," says Mitsubishi boss Takao Kato. "In the future, we plan to add an electrified variant to the lineup and to also roll it out in regions outside ASEAN. We hope to grow the model from a vehicle for the ASEAN market to a global strategic vehicle."
-
We’ll keep our fingers crossed that SA dealers, especially those in explorable Winelands in South Africa will one day have this/ a similar model on offer.
